Replacing the hot-swap drive backplane

Use this information to replace the hot-swap drive backplane.

Attention
  1. Before removing any components or disconnecting any cables, keep note of their respective locations and how they are connected to the system board.

To replace the hot-swap hard disk drive backplane, complete the following steps:

  1. Read the safety information that begins on Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. Remove the cover (see Removing the cover).
  3. Align the backplane with the backplane slot in the chassis and the small slots on top of the hard disk drive cage.
  4. Lower the backplane into the slots on the chassis.
  5. Rotate the top of the backplane until the front tab clicks into place into the latches on the chassis.

  6. Reconnect the cables to the hard disk drive backplane.
  7. Reinstall the hard disk drives (see Replacing a hot-swap drive).
  8. Install the cover (see Replacing the cover).
  9. Slide the server into the rack.
  10. Reconnect the power cords and any cables that you removed.
  11. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.
