Fixes

Refer to the change history file (*.chg) that is provided in the update package for information about fixes.

Software enhancements

This version supports the following enhancements to the management software.
FunctionDescription
General

Passwords for local user accounts can be 8 – 256 characters (see Logging in to XClarity Administrator).

The SFTP service in XClarity Administrator is now disabled by default. It is enabled by XClarity Administrator only when needed and then disabled afterwards.

AdministrationIf either interface uses DHCP to obtain an IP address, you can manually input a default gateway address that overrides the one received from DHCP server (see Configuring network access).
AuthenticationYou can manually configure new LDAP search parameters to customize the authentication process via external LDAP (see Setting up an external LDAP authentication server).
Monitoring

Warnings are displayed on the resource XClarity System Resources card on the Dashboard when disk usage is almost full (see Monitoring system resources).

When backing up XClarity Administrator, an audit event is raised when the backup process is complete (see Working with events).

XClarity Administrator monitors the size of the system log and automatically deletes old entries.

Device management

When using a bulk-import file to manage devices, the job log was improved to identify how many devices were managed successfully and how many failed (see Working with jobs).

Secondary IP addresses are supported for the baseboard management controller in applicable ThinkSystem servers (see Viewing the details of a managed server).

Data for retimer cards are listed on server inventory pages. SFF retimer cards are list as add-in cards, and OCP, CFF and riser retimer cards are listed as onboard cards. (see Viewing the details of a managed server).

When using the remote control feature to access a server with IMM2, after downloading the JNLP file on the local system, you must log in using your XClarity Administrator credentials to start remote-control Java app. Single-signon is no longer supported (see Using remote control to manage Converged, Flex System, NeXtScale, and System x servers).

XClarity Administrator hides dense chassis that you did not explicitly managed.

Firmware updates

You can update firmware on ThinkSystem V3 servers using immediate activation (see Updating firmware on managed devices).

For certain ThinkSystem DM storage devices, when you download firmware updates, the Written Offer PDF file for the ONTAP operating system is also downloaded, or you can optionally include the ONTAP Written Offer PDF (if applicable) when you manually import firmware updates for these devices (see Downloading firmware updates).

You can view the ONTAP Written Offer PDF file from the web interface by clicking the icon in the Release Notes column to display the Release Notes dialog, and then click the ONTAP Written Offer tab (see Downloading firmware updates).

When you create a policy, the Lenovo XClarity Provisioning Manager (LXPM) Linux Drivers and Windows Drivers are set to “Do No Update” by default. (see Firmware-update considerations).

For devices that have two baseboard-management controller ports, the firmware-update process uses the IP address that is used to manage the device (see Firmware-update considerations).

When you export a compliance policy, you can choose to include the update packages that are used by the policy (see Creating and assigning firmware-compliance policies).

You cannot use the web interface to download Update Xpress Packs or individual firmware updates for IBM servers (see Firmware-update considerations).

Server configuration

During a compliance check, if a server is found to be not compliant, XClarity Administrator attempts to correct certain compliance issues, and raises an audit event for issues that were automatically corrected (see Maintaining server-configuration compliance).

For applicable ThinkSystem servers that have XCCs with two Ethernet ports, you can configure both ports using Configuration patterns (see Defining management-interface settings).

Windows device driver updates

You can update Windows device drivers on ThinkSystem V3 servers (see Updating Windows device drivers on managed servers).

You cannot use the web interface to download OS device drivers for certain Flex System devices (see OS device-driver update considerations).

Operating system deployment

You can deploy predefined Ubuntu profiles with static IPv4 or IPv6 addresses (see Deploying an operating-system image).

You can deploy Microsoft Windows Azure Stack HCI 22H2 and 23H2 and Microsoft Windows Client 11 23H2 (see Supported operating systems).

Service and support

You can choose to block service tickets from being opened automatically by Call Home for devices that have expired warranties (see Setting up automatic problem notification to Lenovo Support (Call Home)).

Enhanced data collected in the service-data archives to help Lenovo Support understand your XClarity Administrator environment, including the following settings: discovery, IP, compliance patterns and policies, bulletin service, warranty, forwarders, and exclusion filters (see Collecting and downloading Lenovo XClarity Administrator service files).

Service data archives were enhanced with the following settings to help Lenovo Support understand your XClarity Administrator environment: discovery, IP, compliance patterns and policies, bulletin service, warranty, forwarders, and exclusion filters (see Collecting and downloading Lenovo XClarity Administrator service files).

For downloading warranty information, use supportapi.lenovo.com as the worldwide DNS name as ibase.lenovo.com is no longer used (see Firewalls and proxy servers).
