Install the power distribution board and PDB cage

Follow the instructions in this section to install the power distribution board and PDB cage.

CAUTION
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

About this task

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

  • Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Procedure

  1. Install the PDB cage to the chassis.
    1. Align the PDB cage with the guide pins on the chassis; then, lower the PDB cage down to the chassis.
    2. Fasten four screws to secure the PDB cage.

  2. Fasten six screws to secure the power distribution board onto the PDB cage.

  3. Connect the cables to the power distribution board.
    Note

After this task is completed

  1. If the RAID flash power module holder is removed, reinstall the holder. See Install the RAID flash power module holder.

  2. If applicable, secure the silver signal cable of PCIe riser 2 into cable clips. See PCIe riser card cable routing.

  3. Reinstall PCIe riser 2. See Install the PCIe riser assembly.

  4. Reconnect the cables to the front drive backplane.

  5. If applicable, reinstall the M.2 backplane assembly. See Install the M.2 backplane assembly.

  6. Reinstall the M.2 air baffle. See Install the M.2 air baffle.

  7. If applicable, reinstall the internal drive cage. See Install the internal drive cage.

  8. If applicable, reinstall the internal drive backplane. See Install the internal drive backplane.

  9. If applicable, reinstall all the internal drives. See Install an internal drive.

  10. Ensure that all components have been reassembled correctly and that no tools or loose screws are left inside the server.

  11. Reinstall the top cover. See Install the top cover.

  12. Reinstall all the power supply units. See Install a hot-swap power supply unit.

  13. Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.
