Remove the UPI module

Follow instructions in this section to remove the UPI module.

About this task

Attention

Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.
Power off the server and peripheral devices, disconnect the power cords from the primary chassis, then disconnect the power cords from the secondary chassis. See Power off the server.
If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack. See Remove the server from rails.

Procedure

Make preparation for the task.
1. Remove the front top cover. See Remove the front top cover.
2. Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle. See Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle.
3. Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD). See Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD).
4. Remove the support bracket. See Remove the support bracket.
5. For primary chassis only, remove the system I/O board and interposer assembly. See Remove the system I/O board and interposer board.
Disconnect UPI module cables.

1. Open the cable clips and unhook the UPI module cables.
2. Disconnect the UPI module cables from the lower processor board (MB).
Remove the eight screws that secure the UPI module.

Push the UPI module out of the UPI module hole and carefully lift it out of the chassis.

After you finish

Install a replacement unit. See Install the UPI module.
If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
