Remove the I/O module board

Follow instructions in this section to remove the I/O module board from the node.

About this task

To avoid potential danger, make sure to read and follow the safety information.

  • S002
    disconnect all power
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Depending on the specific configuration, the front I/O bezel and I/O module board might look different from the illustrations in this section.

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. If applicable, unlock or remove any locking device that secures the top cover, such as a Kensington lock; then, remove the top cover (see Remove the top cover).
    2. Disconnect all the drive cables from the system board; then, remove the drive cage from the node (see Remove the drive cage).
    3. Remove the front operator assembly from the node and disconnect the cable from the system board(see Remove the front operator assembly).
    4. Remove the front I/O bezel (see Remove the front I/O bezel).
    5. Disconnect the I/O module board power cable (see Cable routing for the I/O module board).
  2. Remove the six screws that secure the I/O module board .

  3. Slightly pivot the I/O module board at an angle to disengage it; then, pull the I/O module board toward the front of the node to remove it.

When disengaging and removing the I/O module board, make sure to:

    • pivot the I/O module board at a small angle to avoid interfering with the studs on the chassis sidewalls; and
    • keep the I/O module board under these studs.
