Remove the front operator panel

Follow the instructions in this section to remove the front operator panel.

About this task

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Power off the server and peripheral devices, disconnect the power cords from the primary chassis, then disconnect the power cords from the secondary chassis. See Power off the server.

  • Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.

  • If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack. See Remove the server from rails.

Procedure

  1. Make preparation for the task.
    1. Remove the front top cover. See Remove the front top cover.
    2. Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle. See Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle.
    3. Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD). See Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD).
    4. For primary chassis only, remove the support bracket. See Remove the support bracket.
    5. For primary chassis only, remove the system I/O board and interposer assembly. See Remove the system I/O board and interposer board.
  2. Remove the front operator panel.

    1. Press and hold on the two release tabs on the top of the front operator panel cage.
    2. Push the front operator panel assembly outwards from the inside of the chassis to remove it.
  3. If necessary, remove two screws and remove the front operator panel cage.

  4. If necessary, remove two screws and remove the front operator panel bracket.

After you finish

  1. Install a replacement unit. See Install the front operator panel.

  2. If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
