Manage application templates

You can perform actions on templates, such as creating an instance from a template, copying a template, or deleting a template. Infrastructure admin users can manage templates that are stored in Organization Templates and templates stored in VDC Templates. VDC manager users can manage templates stored in VDC Templates for VDCs to which they have access.

  Infrastructure admin users and VDC manager users can use a pre-defined template to quickly create and deploy an application instance. These instances function as thin-provisioned clones that share a common base image, reducing storage usage across a virtual datacenter.
• Edit a template
  Infrastructure admin users and VDC manager users can edit templates.
• Copy a template
  Infrastructure admin users and VDC manager users can copy templates from one template store to another.
• Delete a template
  Infrastructure admin users and VDC manager users can delete a template from Organization Templates or VDC Templates.
• Allow share access for importing a VM
  Infrastructure admin users can set up a share that can be used to import a VM. They can import a .VMDK/.VHD/.VHDx/.IMG/.OVA/.QCOW2/.QED/.RAW file via an NFS or CIFS share.
