Firmware repository
For XClarity One in the cloud, Lenovo ensures that the latest firmware versions are available. However, there might be cases where limited availability fixes (LAFixes) might be created by Lenovo specifically for you and need to be manually imported into the cloud portal for your organization.
- When connected to the Internet:
XClarity One updates the firmware catalog every 24 hours by default. The start time for firmware catalog update can be modified from Scheduled jobs page (see Jobs). You need to download or manually import firmware packages and repository packs into the portal.
When you initiate a firmware update operation or when you deploy a template that includes firmware policies, missing payloads are downloaded automatically.
When there is no internet connection, you need to manually import firmware packages and repository packs into the portal.
Importing firmware
Repository packs contain the latest firmware updates that are available at a specific point in time for most supported devices. When imported, the repository pack is extracted and added to the repository as individual firmware packages. Ensure that you import all required files: payload (.tgz), metadata (.xml), change log (.chg) and readme (.txt).
NoteYou can import repository packs only when using XClarity One on premises.
Only repository packs that were released in 2023 or later are supported. You can manually download repository packs to your local system from the XClarity One downloads webpage
Firmware packages contain the firmware updates for a specific component and release. Ensure that you import all required files based on the device type.
For ThinkSystem V3 and V4 server firmware, import the single update package (*.zip). This zip file contains the payload, metadata files (several *.json files), change log file (*.chg) and readme file (*.txt).
For ThinkSystem V1, ThinkSystem V2, and ThinkEdge server firmware, import the individual payload (.zip, .uxz, .tar.gz, .tar, .bin), metadata (.xml), change log (.chg) and readme (.txt). files.
Only firmware packages and repository packs that were created and signed by Lenovo are supported
For XClarity One in the cloud, you must use a chromium-based browser (such as Chrome, Edge, or Opera) to import large files (such as firmware packages and repository packs). Other browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox, are not supported.
