Disassemble the chassis for recycle
Follow the instructions in this section to disassemble the chassis before recycling.
About this task
Refer to local environmental, waste or disposal regulations to ensure compliance.
Procedure
Make preparation for the task.
- Gently pull and disengage every installed power supply unit. See Remove a hot-swap power supply unit.
- Remove the front top cover. See Remove the front top cover.
- Remove the rear top cover. See Remove the rear top cover.
- Remove the fan cage. See Remove the fan cage.
- Remove both power interposer boards. See Remove the power interposer board.
- Remove the power distribution board. See Remove the power distribution board.
- Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle. See Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle.
- Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD). See Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD).
- Remove the support bracket. See Remove the support bracket.
- For primary chassis only, remove the system I/O board and interposer assembly. See Remove the system I/O board and interposer board.
- Remove the lower processor board (MB) air baffle. See Remove the lower processor board (MB) air baffle.
- For primary chassis only, remove the front operator panel and front operator panel cage. See Remove the front operator panel.
- Remove the PHMs. See Remove a processor and heat sink.
- Remove the memory modules. See Remove a memory module.
- Remove the sideband card. See Remove the sideband card.
- Remove the Ethernet port assembly. See Remove the Ethernet port assembly.
- Remove the OCP module. See Remove the OCP module.
- Remove the OCP cage. See Remove the OCP cage.
- Remove all the PCIe adapters. See Remove a PCIe adapter.
- Remove the PCIe riser card. See Remove the PCIe riser card.
- Remove the UPI module. See Remove the UPI module.
- Remove the all the intrusion switch. See Remove the top cover intrusion switch and Remove the front intrusion switch.
- Remove the serial port assembly. See Remove the serial port assembly.
- Remove all the hot-swap drives and drive fillers. See Remove a hot-swap drive.
- Remove all the E3.S cable assemblies. See Remove an E3.S cable assembly.
- Remove all the drive backplanes. See Remove a drive backplane.
- Remove all the drive cages. See Remove a drive cage.
- Remove the lower processor board (MB). See Remove the lower processor board (MB).
After you finish
After disassembling the chassis, recycle the unit in compliance with local regulations.
