Controller degraded to preserve offline volume data

A volume with write caching enabled was placed offline because the volume's associated disk pool or volume group is missing drives. The volume's preferred controller is being held in a degraded state to preserve the data in write cache.

Important
The storage array may report a Volume Not on Preferred Path problem as a result of this issue.
CAUTION
Risk of data loss

Do not remove or replace either of the storage array's controllers until this issue has been resolved. Removing or replacing either of the storage array's controllers may result in the loss of cached data.

Recovery Steps​

  1. Are any Missing Volume Group or Disk Pool problems being reported in the Problems area?

    • If yes, correct the problem using the recovery steps in the Missing Volume Group or Disk Pool procedure listed in the Problems area. This should resolve this problem as well.

    • If no, go to step 2.

  2. Are any Incomplete Volume Group or Pool problems being reported in the Problems area?

    • If yes, correct the problem using the recovery steps in the Incomplete Volume Group or Pool procedure listed in the Problems area. This should resolve this problem as well.

    • If no, contact your Technical Support Engineer.
